Sony Ericsson shows off the Xperia Neo and Pro

Xperia neo to the left and Xperia pro to the right.

Sony Ericsson is trying hard to make itself relevant in the Android ecosystem, so today not only did they officially announce the Xperia Play (which we’ve all known about for months), but they showed off the Xperia Neo and the Xperia Pro. They are essentially the same exact phone, but the Pro has a slide-out keyboard.

There is a really cool opportunity available for all of Sony Ericsson’s coming AndroidGingerbread phones, including Xperia pro and Xperia neo. For all of these phones, it will be possible to develop your own extensions to Sony Ericsson’s Timescape application. The Timescape application is a central hub for most social activities and events in a Sony Ericsson Androidphone. And with the new Extension Development Kit (EDK), you will be able to develop your own Timescape extensions.

Based on the cell bands packed in, it looks like these phones will only be coming to AT&T in the US. It will work on any of the major cell carriers in Canada, but the Xperia Play and Arc will both be on Rogers, so maybe these will follow suit.
